WHAT PERMITS ARE NEEDED?

In nearly every jurisdiction, installing a sign requires permits. Be sure to ask the sign company you are dealing with to go over all of the permits that will be needed for the sign you want. The sign company should be able to explain their process and timeline for gathering the necessary permits. They should also have a good understanding of local regulations and how it relates to your signage.

WHERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF YOUR SIGNS?

A sign company should have several examples of their work displayed in your area. One of the best ways to see their craftsmanship for yourself is to ask the sign company where they have installed a sign similar to the one you are looking to make. Ask for a few examples and then head over to those locations and see the sign for yourself. If possible, ask the owner of the location if their experience with the sign company was good or not.

DOES THE SIGN COMPANY DO ALL OF THEIR OWN WORK?

There are sign companies who outsource the design, fabrication, and installation of their signs to outside third parties. When you are talking to a sign company, be sure to ask them if they do all of their own work in-house or if their sign work is outsourced. A sign company that outsources its work can’t always guarantee quality control since they are giving the work to another company to perform.

IS THE SIGN COMPANY FULLY LICENSED AND INSURED?

Before you begin any work with a sign company, always ask them if they are fully licensed and insured. This not only protects the sign company, but it also protects you from any accidents or damages that might occur on your property during the sign installation or maintenance process. A good sign company will have no issues showing you all of their licenses and insurance information.

Be sure to get a complete understanding of the entire process of designing, fabricating, installing and maintaining your sign. A professional sign company will not hesitate to tell you all of these details. Finally, get in writing the dates when every benchmark will be completed and what happens if the deadlines are not met.
